EU Label Compliance — GPSR product labels for Amazon, Etsy & eBay sellers
CE marking label: what the two letters do and do not cover.
The CE mark is the manufacturer's declaration that a product meets the EU harmonisation laws that apply to it: toys, electrical equipment, radio devices, machinery. It does not replace the other information that must travel with the product.
Three things a CE mark does not supply:
A — An economic operator based in the EU, named on the product, its packaging or an accompanying document (Reg. (EU) 2019/1020, art. 4)
B — The manufacturer's name and postal address, not only a brand or a website
C — Warnings and safety information in the language of the country of sale
CE is also not a general quality badge. Products outside those laws, such as a ceramic mug or a cotton T-shirt, must not carry it. They still fall under the GPSR, Regulation (EU) 2023/988, applied since 13 December 2024.
Which of the three is missing from the labels you ship: A, B or C?
